Firmware 2.60 a caminho da PS3 Notícias

A Sony anunciou, mediante o blog oficial da PlayStation, que a PS3 irá receber brevemente uma nova actualização de sistema. Preparem-se aqueles que gostam de organizar as suas fotos, pois vão perder muitas horas com a nova aplicação "Photo Gallery".

Com este novo programa, que terá de ser descarregado, bastando para isso ir à secção de fotografias, o utilizador poderá organizar as fotografias que tem no disco rígido de forma mais interessante. Estas podem ser agrupadas tendo em conta a data de captura, se existem sorrisos nas fotos, a idade das pessoas presentes nas fotografias, entre outras. Tudo isto realizado em poucos segundos pela PS3. Além disso, podemos personalizar a aparência do serviço, escolhendo um dos vários fundos disponíveis ou ainda emoldurar fotos. Mas para saberem um pouco mais sobre esta aplicação, nada melhor do que espreitar o vídeo preparado pela Sony.

Além desta novidade, com esta actualização no firmware, o sistema de nova geração da Sony vai conseguir reproduzir ficheiros DivX 3.11 e os utilizadores que não estão registados na PlayStation Network poderão visitar a página inicial da PlayStation Store.

• Video files you’ve purchased from the PlayStation Store can be backed up to an external storage device and then restored to PS3’s internal hard drive for playback – so you can clear up space on your hard drive and then restore the video anytime in the future.

• Videos you’ve purchased for PSP (PlayStation Portable) system can now be transferred to PS3 for playback.

PS3 Firmware (v2.76) Update

Hello, I just wanted to provide everyone with a head’s up that the next PLAYSTATION 3 system software update (v.2.76) will be coming soon. This is a minor update that improves the playback quality of some PS3 format software.

The real secret in PS3 firmware 2.80

The optional PS3 firmware update 2.80 actually included a very important improvement for game developers.

When PS3 firmware 2.80 came out it was unclear what had actually been included. The update was optional with the common and only log inclusion of "The playback quality of some PlayStation 3 format software has been improved."

Our friends at PS3Attitude discovered an increased character limit in chat, and TheSixthAxis found that the update was actually required for the console's music video application, VidZone. This was the first clue as to what the update actually included for PS3 developers.

It's now clear what was involved with the update; more RAM memory was made available, most likely due to the reduction of memory consumption for the console's Operating System (OS). How do we know? This information was provided by Sam Thompson, the producer of Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, during an interview at this year's San Diego Comic-Con.

When asked what improvements had been made to Uncharted 2 since the game's multiplayer beta, Thompson told TQcast:

"Naughty Dog is constantly working to improve every aspect of the gameplay; be it animation, lighting, sound, texture fidelity. You know if you look at the game itself with the 2.80 engine update, you know we're adding more memory, so we get a lot more utilisation of the SPUs so we increase our optimisation of the Cell processor as well."

"So we've got from the engineering side all the way up to texture fidelity, artists adding in even more...I mean there's really not a singular aspect that's not been improved in the game," Thompson added.

It's presumed that the 2.80 engine update Thompson refers to is Naughty Dog's improvements after the PS3's 2.80 firmware update, with the coincidence being too significant to ignore. A reduced OS memory footprint is a common inclusion with PS3 updates and it's good to know that it's making such a positive impact with developers and their games.

For reference, the PS3's memory footprint was reduced to 74mb at firmware 1.80, so who knows what it is now. Sony might even be closing in on the Xbox 360's 32mb's.

It is real. It is a PS3 that's been cut down as much as physically possible without preventing the loss of playback of any existing PS3 title out there. It still has blu-ray, it still has wireless, it still has bluetooth and it still has gigabit ethernet.
"OtherOS" support has been removed.
You still get 2 USB ports.
Hard drive sizes will be bigger, it will come in 120Gb and 250Gb flavours. It's still replaceable and will actually be slightly easier as it has been relocated to the front of the console.
It will NOT have any "new" features, such as backwards compatibility or enhanced peripheral support. It's just a PS3, but slightly smaller and cheaper.
The power supply is still internal, but a different power cable will be used.
Rear ports are still the same: 1x HDMI, 1x Sony AV port, 1x Optical, 1x Ethernet. And of course a power port.
Release date and official announcement are not final.
Price is undetermined, but make no mistake, this is a "slimmed" PS3 in ever sense of the word. It's as cheap as can possibly be, so expect it to launch with a smaller price tag than what you're paying now in your respective territories.
Internally, several daughter boards have been removed, but all functionality is still there. This is due to a more advanced manufacturing process. It still uses a few extra boards, though, we're not quite at PSTwo levels yet.
A Cheaper Blu-ray drive is being used. It wont be any slower, but expect to see similar issues that another competitor had a while ago.
Touch-sensitive buttons on the front for power/eject are gone in favour of cheaper push buttons.
It has a slightly different startup screen. Only slightly.
It's about 50% smaller than current PS3s.
It wont be called the "PS3 Slim". The PS1 "slim" and the PS2 "slim" were never officially called the "slim", either.

In short: It's a smaller PS3, but that's it. No new features, no special hardware, just smaller and cheaper. And it wont have sex with you.


Cross-game chat is in the works as part of Firmware 3.0. It wont be out during the summer, but assuming all goes well, it will be out well before the holidays. Current timeframe places it around September, but it's still very much a WIP. If there are any major delays, that will slip and if there are very few delays at all, it might even arrive earlier, but don't bank on it as it is a lot more complicated than you might imagine. At this point, it's working quite well in the labs and supports several players at once.
It's targeted to work with all past and future games that support ingame XMB, much like text chat.
I'm not a betting man, but I wouldn't be surprised if the "slim" shipped with this firmware installed (that doesn't mean the slim will come first, remember).

Who said the 3000 wasn't being phased out? It will be and sooner than you realise. However, the PSP Go isn't what's replacing it. The 4000 is. And yes, it will have a UMD drive. And similar to the PS3 "slim", it's nothing to actually get excited about.

Keep a very close eye on the hard drives shipped with newer PS3's. In a few months (or possibly sooner), something strange is going to start happening.

Hey Guys How is it going, so as you might think IM a member that joined in June maybe you know me. So I know there has been a lot of hype for the 3.00 Update and I am pleased to inform you its going to be out either September 1st around 1 am or September 2 around 1 there are some minor kinks still in it that need to be worked on.
But unfortunately I have some bad news in game chat will not be released with the 3.00 update there have been some minor setbacks that will delay it until around September 16 and will be patched in with firmware 3.06. But I will let you guys in on some stuff that they have been keeping quiet.

Voice messaging aka voice subject they made it so you can send a voice subject of a text personal message to your friends 30 seconds maximum time it was made voice SUBJECT for legal issues.

Internet browser no longer asks you if you want to run pluggins

You will now be able to disable trophies sound

Friends list has been changed so you can put friends in self created folders

You can now take pictures with your ps eye and use them as your avatar

A VG247 source said today that Sony has informed developers of plans to incorporate cross-title voice chat in PS3 play by the end of October.
The feature will be added in Firmware update 3.10, we were told.
Cross-title chat is consistently one of the most asked-for features on PS3 – looks like Sony’s ready to deliver.
